UAB is hosting a one-day conference on May 11 called “The Impact of Poverty on Our Community.” Physicians Max Michael (dean of public health) and Frank A. Franklin (pediatric nutrition) are organizing it, with the university’s Center for the Study of Community Health and Center for the Advancement of Youth Health. Congressman Artur Davis is the keynote speaker.
The agenda and further details are here. (N.B. The “Agenda” link is not active yet.)
Registration is $25 until April 27, then it’s $30. Even on my student budget and dissertation schedule, I’m tempted to steal a day and go.
